On top of that, we provided Audio Description for 46 performances, Caption Theater for 35 performances and now offer noise canceling headphones for patrons who need assistance with sound sensitivity. We had over 5,000 uses of our various access services offerings and can't wait to assist in 2018. For more on Access Services:http://www.kentuckycenter.org/about/access-services</image:caption>

<image:caption>Every summer for the past thirty years, GSA and our faculty of professional artist/educators have guided over two hundred of Kentucky’s finest young artists through three weeks of incredibly intense (and incredibly fun) arts instruction. GSA auditions promising high school sophomores and juniors in nine different arts disciplines: Architecture +Design, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, Film + Photography, Visual Art and Vocal Music. For three solid weeks residing on a college campus, the students discover the power of their art and their place as an artist. It’s a thrilling, often life-changing experience, as they meet new friends, explore their creativity, and discover new things about who they are and who they can be in the future. Here, drama students perform an original piece about acceptance of diversity. For more on the program: http://www.kentuckycenter.org/education-community-arts/gsa</image:caption>

<image:caption>Leslie and Lena Bragg of Waverly marked their 63rd wedding anniversary on Monday, September 30. The couple met and married in Coal City, West Virginia when Les was 24 and Lena was 19 years old. They went on to have four children; Anita “Tumpy”, Sereta Ann, Nolan and Alycia. They now have eight grandkids and four great-grandchildren. Les is a retired federal mine inspector and Lena retired from Wal-Mart. When asked the secret to a good marriage Leslie Bragg jokingly said that he had to realize that “my wife didn’t have any faults and I only had two, everything I said and everything I did.” Lena went on to say that she and Les balance each other out, she is talkative and he is more of the quite type of person. The two are now enjoying their retirement and can often be found on their front porch with their dog Scooter.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My grandmother Yvonne Faye Pate passed away before I had the chance to make a lot of memories with her. Most of my knowledge of her comes from others who say that my mom and I look like her or that we are sassy like her. When I think of her, I remember the phone call to South Dakota to tell us that she had passed. I remember the red cushions in the funeral home. And that is it. I know she was a good cook, loves yellow roses and was one hell of a lady from the memories she made with other people. My niece and I are named after her, so I think a piece of her lives in each of us.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Herbert Pate was my grandfather. We weren't the closest of family but I do know that he loved me. Sometimes I think it was hard for him to be around my mom and I because we reminded him too much of my nanna. I remember his garden, his big hugs and overwhelming use of Old Spice. He was a man about town who loved the ladies and carried a fork in his pocket incase there was a dessert around.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My great grandmother Dorothy Weathers was full of love. Her smile made you feel like nothing bad could ever happen. She made a mean carrot cake and loved oatmeal cream pies. I think the most important thing she taught me was to not worry what other people think. She divorced her husband in the early 70's and married Malcolm Weathers, who everyone called Frog because of the tone of his voice. While this doesn't sound extraordinary, Frog was a black man and small-town-Kentucky still frowned on interracial marriage. She didn't care. They found the one officiant in the county who would marry them and stood up for their love.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Margaret Ann Watson was known as Mog by everyone. Her sister, my great grandmother, couldn't say Margaret Ann when they were little and Mog stuck. Mog and my Mamaw were peas in a pod. Mog was a pistol. She told you how she felt and didn't hold and punches. She called our priest Fr. Blow Hard after a long homily. Her and Uncle Henry lived on Goose Pond Road for as long as I can remember. After Henry went into the nursing home, their house was torn down. Now crops grow where they spent their last days together.</image:caption>
